I have been looking at the new utprosim.org website, and wondered if you would like me to submit for the general forum a report of my brief time at St. Peter's in 1947. I was there when the first Independence Day occurred and I can still sing a little bit of Jana Gana Mana, etc. I will be 65 next May, and there are probably very few "Old Boys" who go back that far, most being now dead or demented, or perhaps unfamiliar with the use of the Internet.
My purpose is also selfish, as I would love to get hold of some photos of that time, as well as current ones, to see if they will revive some recollections which have become faded with the passage of time. My time at St. Peter's was mostly not happy, though this was not the fault of the school, and others may also have had some difficulties which related to being separated from our parents at such a young age (I was only seven years old). After I left St. Peter's I spent the rest of my schooling in India in the Nilgiris, and am an alumnus member of the school I attended there, and which is still very much in existence. - Doug Waller |
